Hyatt Regency Boston
Conveniently located in the theater district.  We stayed here and managed to walk all of downtown Boston from this location.

We hopped on the Red Line and took it to the JFK stop.  They have complimentary buses that will then bring you over to the Library which is located on the UMass campus.
