The Broadwalk is packed with beach shops, restaurants, cafes, hotels, playgrounds, and best of all- it's right on the beach!!
There is a beachside theater where free concerts are offered when the weather is nice. There is an organic farmer's market every Sunday. Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville Resort is currently under construction along the Broadwalk as well. When that place opens it will be a nice vacation destination for locals as well as visitors. There are two "lanes." One is for pedestrians, the other for bikes, scooters, and other manually powered things.
There are many small beach side motels as well as a few major chains like the Hollywood Beach Marriott, at the north end, that gets pretty good reviews.
So if you're local and want a nice afternoon out, take a trip on over to the Broadwalk.
If you're from out of town and need a hotel room for a day before or after a cruise or simply looking for a nice beach to stay on, this is it!
We learned one really valuable lesson- HOLD ON TO YOUR PARKING TICKET, if you park in a garage. We lost ours and it's $30 to get out. :(
