In no way am I a political person, I am a lover of American History though. The "library" is really a museum of all the events that occurred between 2001 and 2009, when George W Bush was president. My husband find history pretty boring, but he still enjoyed walking through the place.
Parking
This was a slight issue, when we arrived at Southern Methodist University there was a lot of construction on the campus, so we entered via SMU Blvd rather than the entrances off of Mockingbird Lane. As a side note, Mockingbird Lane has beautiful homes for sightseeing! The parking lot was full, cars were parked along curbs and people were circling for some time before they could find anything. Thankfully we were in the Toyota Yaris, that car squeezed up against a curb without a problem!
Security
We did have to pass through metal detectors and bags through an x-ray machine. No food or drinks are allowed inside. Babies have the exception, I was able to bring my son's bottles through without a problem.
Museum
I won't go in to detail and spoil what is in store, but there are different rooms that have themes. There are 5 (I think) short movies to watch. One was rather entertaining because it was from his twin daughters point of view and he was making fun of himself in it. I can always appreciate when someone can admit their shortcomings and still be happy! There is a mock Oval Office where you can have your picture taken behind the desk. Another room was dedicated to children and education, there were benches and a bookshelf filled with children's literature. Parents can sit with their kids and read books at their leisure!
